Picture this: a beautiful sunny day in the Florida Keys, palm trees swaying in the breeze, and two high school sweethearts ready to tie the knot. That’s the scene Brenda and Stephen set for their dream destination wedding at the gorgeous Cheeca Lodge resort.

From New Jersey to Paradise
For their big day, these New Jersey lovebirds decided to ditch the cold and head south to the sunny shores of Islamorada. And boy, did they bring the party with them! Family and friends from all over the country packed their bags to join in on the celebration. Of course, yours truly was there to capture every second of this destination wedding at Cheeca Lodge. And as for the colors? Well, they picked a color scheme of green, white, and neutral with pops of pink. A perfect match to the beachy vibe I must say.
Squad Goals for this Cheeca Lodge Wedding!
Talk about popular! Brenda and Stephen rolled up with a wedding party that could’ve filled a small concert venue – 12 bridesmaids and 12 groomsmen! It was clear from the start that this wasn’t just a wedding; it was a reunion of their favorite people. Just look at all those happy faces! Priceless. Cue: *say cheese!*
And oh, can I just say…those umbrellas look so adorable! I might have to get one for myself soon. *wink*
Getting Ready in Style
The morning of the wedding was all about the pre-game fun. Brenda treated her girls to matching PJs, which turned the getting-ready process into its own little party. There were happy tears, of course, but tons of laughter too.
Meanwhile, Stephen and his guys kept it cool and casual, cracking jokes and sharing stories as they suited up. Yep, things were looking great and we were definitely off to a great start!
That First Look Magic
A hundred photographs later, it was time for that special, and one of the most-awaited moments–the first look. Before the main event, Brenda and Stephen decided to sneak a peek at each other. This first look gave them a quiet moment together and, bonus points, made sure they had plenty of time for those beautiful photos without keeping their guests waiting.
Oops … a Gate Crasher!
But no, it wasn’t just any guest. Because just when everyone thought they’d seen it all, in trots… a donkey! Yep, you read that right. This four-legged cutie showed up before the ceremony, posing for pics and hanging around to watch Brenda and Stephen say “I do.” Talk about a unique wedding guest! This one practically stole the show. Well, almost.
Saying “I Do” with a View
With the ocean as their backdrop and their donkey friend in attendance, it was time for Brenda and Stephen to make it official. They added their own touch to the ceremony with a knot-tying ritual (very on-brand for a nautical wedding and yes, pun intended) and some heartfelt Bible readings. It was personal, it was beautiful, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
It’s Time to Get This Party Started!
After the “I dos” came the “let’s celebrate!” The reception was like one big, happy family reunion. Literally. Speeches had everyone reaching for the tissues, sharing stories that were equal parts funny and touching. And once the music started? Let’s just say the dance floor was the place to be.
A Wedding Day to Remember
Of course, even the most perfect of days have to come to an end. And while we hoped this never would, Brenda and Stephen’s wedding was one for the books. From the stunning Florida Keys setting to the surprise donkey appearance, everything was just beautiful.
As the sun set on their perfect day, one thing was clear: this wasn’t just about two people getting married. It was about two families coming together, friends reuniting, and everyone celebrating the power of love.
So, if you’re dreaming of your own destination wedding, take a page from Brenda and Stephen’s book. Pick a beautiful spot, surround yourself with the people you love, and don’t be afraid to add your own unique touch (donkey optional, but highly recommended). After all, the best weddings are the ones that tell your story – and what a story this was!
