Groom and groomsmen wedding day tips can make a big difference in how the wedding morning feels and flows. When the groom’s side is prepared, the morning can feel more relaxed, organized, and meaningful, while also making room for better photos. These groom and groomsmen wedding day tips are meant to help the morning feel smoother, less stressful, and more true to the people who are part of it.

Get your haircut before the wedding day
Do not wait until the last minute for a haircut. It is usually better to do it a few days before the wedding so it still looks fresh, but has a little time to settle in. This is especially important if you tend to get redness or irritation after a fade, neckline cleanup, or beard trim.

Try on your tuxedo or suit when you pick it up
Do not assume everything fits just because it was ordered or altered. Try on the full look ahead of time, including the pants, jacket, shirt, shoes, belt, suspenders, tie, or bow tie. Sometimes the pants need adjusting, the shirt fits differently than expected, or something was missed during alterations. It is always better to find that out before the wedding day.

Take it easy the night before
If you are spending the night with friends, try not to overdo it. Get plenty of water, get some rest, and take care of yourself the night before the wedding. The goal is to wake up feeling good, clear-headed, and ready for the day.

Make Sure the Groomsmen Know Where to Be and What to Bring
If the groom is getting ready with groomsmen, family, or close friends, make sure everyone knows what time to arrive and where they need to be. Also, remind the groomsmen ahead of time to bring their full outfit and not forget the little things, shoes, socks, tie or bow tie, belt, cufflinks, undershirt, and any other accessories. It may sound small, but missing one item can throw things off quickly and create stress that no one needs that morning.

Create a Groom Getting Ready Space That Feels Clean, Calm, and Comfortable
This part makes a bigger difference than people think. Your photographer will be coming in to document the morning, so a clean room always helps the photos look better. Bags, food containers, water bottles, random clothing, and clutter can quickly make the space feel messy in pictures. It also helps to think about the kind of atmosphere you want that morning. Some grooms want music, energy, and everyone there early. Others want a quieter, more relaxed start and prefer for friends to arrive a little later, either fully dressed or getting dressed closer to the timeline. Either way is completely fine, but having a space that feels clean, calm, and organized makes the whole morning run better.

Do not forget about family during getting ready
It is easy to focus only on the groomsmen, but this can also be a special time for the groom with his dad, mom, or other close family members. If those relationships are important, make sure they are part of the getting ready timeline so there is space for those moments and photos too.

Know the Room Works, and Have the Little Things Ready
This may sound small, but it makes a difference. If you are wearing a tie or bow tie, make sure someone knows how to do it properly before the wedding day so you are not figuring it out in the moment. Also, if several groomsmen, family members, and vendors are all getting ready in one suite, make sure the room actually has enough space for everyone. When the room is too tight and there is too much happening at once, things can start feeling more chaotic than they need to.

Leave Room for Real Groom and Groomsmen Moments
From my side, I love documenting the groom’s getting ready in a way that feels natural and true to him. That includes candids as things unfold, details, solo portraits of the groom, fun shots with the group, and the more polished images too. I love when that part of the day reflects his personality and the kind of connection he has with his friends, because that is what makes those photos feel real. Some groups are more relaxed, some are more playful, and some have a little bit of both. That dynamic matters, and I always want it to come through in the photos. Ideally, I also love getting a photo of the groom with each groomsman. It all comes down to time. The more breathing room there is in the morning, the more we can capture without it feeling rushed.

The groom’s side of the wedding day deserves just as much thought and care. With a little planning, these groom and groomsmen wedding day tips can help the morning feel more relaxed, organized, and meaningful from the very beginning.
