Why Vizcaya Was the Perfect Place
Vizcaya has this timeless, romantic feel that never gets old. For Olivia and Mitch, it was the perfect spot for their engagement session. They had never been, which made the whole experience feel fresh and exciting. As a Key Largo wedding photographer, I love when couples choose locations that feel meaningful and timeless and match their personalities.

The architecture, the gardens, the stone textures, the European influence… every area gives a different vibe. And honestly, engagement sessions here always run way longer than the usual sixty minutes. There’s just too much beauty in one place to rush through. Vizcaya is the kind of location in Miami you explore slowly, letting creativity guide you.
There’s something about couples who love mixing the city energy with the calmness of the Florida Keys that feels so familiar to me as a Key Largo wedding photographer. I also photograph so much in Miami, so I’m totally comfortable moving between both vibes — the city pace and the slower, breezier feeling of the Keys. I see that same shift in my couples all the time, and it honestly brings me so much joy. There’s this moment when people leave Miami and head south… shoulders relax, breathing slows down, everything feels lighter. When I photograph couples who move between those two worlds so naturally, it always feels a little extra special.
A Little Behind the Scenes

We tried to schedule this engagement session a few times, but life kept throwing little obstacles at us. Still, we stayed persistent. When the day finally came, it felt meant to be.
Meeting Olivia and Mitch in person was awesome. Olivia loves the camera and the camera absolutely loves her too. She falls into poses naturally without even trying.
Mitch was amazing. Even with a couple of business calls popping up, he stayed engaged and devoted. He made sure he was present for his girl, and you could feel that connection the whole time.

They both gravitated toward the back of the house by the water. No beach, no waves, just that wide open ocean view and a soft breeze. It felt peaceful and effortless, and it matched them perfectly.
Their Vizcaya Experience
Olivia connected with the details right away — the arches, the staircases, the textures, all the elegance that makes Vizcaya feel like it was made for photography.

And Mitch brought a totally different layer. He actually read up on Vizcaya’s history before our session. He loved knowing the story behind the home and the gardens. He pointed out little things as we walked and it made everything feel intentional, almost like the place had meaning to them even though it was their first time there.
A South Florida Love Story With Their Key Largo Wedding Photographer
Olivia and Mitch already share a full life together. They’re married, they’ve built a beautiful home in South Florida and they have two amazing kids. But this December, they’re giving themselves something they never really had the chance to celebrate — their wedding love.

They chose Key Largo for their celebration. Olivia is very much a city girl. She loves Miami’s energy, the coffee, the little routines that come with living here. But she also loves sunsets, nature and the ocean. Mitch is the same way. They both slow down the moment they head toward the Keys. As a Key Largo wedding photographer, these stories always feel special to share. As a Key Largo wedding photographer, I meet a lot of couples who love mixing city life with that easy Keys energy.
That drive into Key Largo just softens everything. It feels like a reset. Close enough to home but still with that little destination vibe. Most of their family and friends will be coming from the mainland, making it feel like a shared journey for everyone.
Looking Ahead to Their Key Largo Celebration

They’re getting married on New Year’s weekend, which makes their celebration even more meaningful. A new year, a new chapter, and a moment to honor everything they’ve built together with their kids and the people who love them.
It’s going to be beautiful, emotional and full of joy. And I can’t wait to capture it all with them.
