Villa Woodbine at Coconut Grove | A Dream Wedding: Diana + Edwin

As a wedding photographer, I’ve been to literally hundreds of weddings. But no matter how many weddings I’ve been to, there’s always something magical in each one of them — this one at Villa Woodbine in Coconut Grove included.

And can I just say, Diana and Edwin’s wedding at Villa Woodbine was one for the books! This lovely couple from Minnesota took their love story all the way to the beautiful beaches of Miami for a wedding that was nothing short of epic. We’re talking Spanish-style vibes, tropical gardens, lots of sunshine, and loads of fun.

Read on to get a peek into Diana and Edwin’s wedding day and everything that made their celebration extra special!

Why they chose Villa Woodbine at Coconut Grove

A touch of home

The stunning venue is definitely at the top of the list of what made this wedding so special. For one, it gave off major Spanish vibes with its red roof tiles, white walls, and pretty gardens–something that Diana fell in love with at first sight as it reminded her of her Colombian roots.

For Edwin, it was the fact that the venue was located at the heart of Miami, which meant it was easy to locate and no one had to worry about getting lost along the way.

An all-in-one venue

One of the couple’s favorite things about Villa Woodbine was the fact that it was spacious enough to host both the ceremony and the celebration. Plus, there was room for them to get ready! No need to hop in cars or arrange transportation. Everything was right there. Definitely less planning for everyone involved!

Plus they also loved how the place had a lot of beautiful gardens, making it the perfect wedding backdrop for Instagram-worthy photos. And look at all that greenery! Is it just me or does the view actually look like something out of a fairy tale?

The perfect spot for family and friends

Choosing the perfect wedding venue can be tricky, especially with so many options to pick from.

Fortunately, that was an easy choice to make for Diana and Edwin. With their friends and family coming from all over, South Florida was easily the best option there was. And they were right!

Diana’s family from Colombia felt right at home with the warm weather. And the fact that they didn’t have to travel too far just to get there made it even better.

Their friends from Mexico loved the beaches too and all the fun things in Miami. And the rest of the guests who came from other parts of the US loved how sunny Miami was just the escape they needed from the cold weather back home.

But what the guests loved about their wedding venue wasn’t just the fact that they were in South Florida. Villa Woodbine’s location in Coconut Grove was a huge hit too. Not only was it located in a charming neighborhood, there were also lots of restaurants, shops, and parks for the guests to explore. Talk about the perfect blend of wedding magic and Miami’s laid-back vibe!

Making the Day Special

Few things in life are as special as your wedding day, and Diana and Edwin made sure to fill theirs with fun and unforgettable moments.

Their first look

Before the ceremony, they shared a private “first look,” which gave them a chance to connect and calm down before the whirlwind of the day began.

Diana even had a special “first look” with her dad! The way his face lit up when he saw her in her wedding dress and his tight hug after spoke volumes about their bond as a family. And of course, all that dreamy, natural light gave me some really beautiful shots to start with.

Festive colors and decors!

A party’s not a party without decors, and this one’s no exception! For their wedding reception, the couple put their own stylish twist, transforming Villa Woodbine into a tropical paradise.

Yup, you read that right.

There were pineapple and mangoes on the tables, bright flowers in shades of pink, orange, and yellow, and even fun tropical hats for the guests to wear and take home! Plus, twinkling lights up in the trees to complete that magical ambiance. Everyone loved it!

The Big Celebration

From start to end, Diana and Edwin’s wedding was filled with love, happy tears, and lots of laughter. (And dancing too, but that’s for later.)

After exchanging their “I dos” and cocktail hour, it was time for dinner. And I have to say, dinner was hands down amazing. Shoutout to Bill Hansen’s catering for doing such a good job with the blend of flavors! Needless to say, we loved every bite.

And then it was party time! The dance floor was packed all night with a mix of English and Spanish songs, and a wave of drinks added to the mini-vacation vibe. Everyone was just having a good time and taking lots of silly photos too.

Their first dance under the stars was truly a magical moment that set the tone for the rest of the night. Diana then shared a dance with her dad and Edwin took to the floor with his mom, adding a sentimental touch to the celebration. Next came the cake cutting, where they shared a piece and a sweet kiss as everyone cheered. And then the wedding party, which went on late into the night.

Diana and Edwin’s wedding at Villa Woodbine was the perfect blend of their Minnesota roots and Miami’s sunny feel. From their first look and down to their last dance, their wedding day was truly a dream come true.

It was indeed—and I believe this is an understatement—a beautiful day to remember.
